Acanthosis (or Spike Armor) is the second Defensive ability that allows the Carrion to grow hundreds of deadly keratin spikes around its body that shoot out when you get close to a victim. It doesn't use up energy on the initial activation but will start draining energy once you get close to humans. (Only works on humans, not drones)
Acanthosis is found in Leviathan Reef Base - Bridge.
Acanthosis is the only mandatory upgrade that is never required to access anywhere. It is purely for combat purposes.
The name "Acanthosis" can be interpreted as "acanth-" (thorns) + "-osis" (formation/increase), meaning "formation of thorns".
